Students will be given examples of different styles of stuffed items, then create their own small object, which can double as a pillow on the long journey home from MaxFunCon. Joshuah Bearman writes long-form magazine stories and radio stories for This American Life about strange characters: real life superheroes; angry santa clauses; super nerdy jewel thieves; championship Donkey Kong players; a deranged private dick who surrounded by MILFs and crooked cops. Many of these non-fiction narratives have found their way into the film and television business. One of them even got made into a movie. Joshuah will take participants through the process of finding unusual true life tales, telling those stories as non-fiction, and adapting them for entertainment.
